Eight simple ideas to transform your bedroom

Your bedroom is a place where you can really be you. If you don’t feel at home and happy in your room then something is clearly wrong. It should be full of personal touches and be a place of relaxation. Here are some simple ideas for transforming your bedroom.

Dust and clean

An obvious, if unappealing way of transforming your room is to clean it. Get rid of all of the dust on the surfaces and clean any stains off furniture or walls. You can even deep clean the carpet to really create a fresh feeling in your room.

Paint the walls

Sometimes, a lick of paint is all it takes. Colors all have different effects on your mood. Your bedroom should be a place of relaxation, so keep that in mind when picking colors. Greens, blues and neutral colors such as white, black and grey are generally good for creating a calm feeling, whereas reds, oranges and yellows evoke feelings of excitement, passion and energy.

Get a nice rug

If your floor is wood, then a great way to spruce things up is to buy a rug. Rugs come in all sorts of patterns and sizes. Turkish rugs will offer bold patterns and rich colors or you could go for something more minimalist in design.

Get a good mattress

Your bed is the entire focus of your bedroom, so you should make sure that it provides a high-quality sleeping experience. A huge part of this is decided by your mattress. It should provide comfort and support, and not cause you to get too hot. A Molecule Mattress uses air engineering to facilitate excellent airflow, allowing your body to remain at a comfortable temperature throughout the night. A molecule mattress is really a great way to transform your bedroom.

Get some new light fixtures

Lighting can have a huge impact on a room. If you want to have a little fun with light fixtures then there are lots of options. You could get a neon sign for your wall to evoke a Tokyo feel or you could go all New Age with a lava lamp.

Alternate your walls

Artwork and photos can be a really nice way of making walls interesting to look at. However, if you cover all of the walls then it can start to feel a little claustrophobic – rather try leaving a couple walls totally blank to create a really striking look.

Get rid of the wires

If you have a laptop, router, music center, multiplug, TV or all of these, your room can quickly start to look like something out of The Matrix. Use wire clips to gather up all of your wires and cables in a neat way or use tape to attach them to skirting boards to keep wires out of your way.

Buy cushions

Everyone likes cushions – they’re comfortable and they can have pleasing colors. Get some and make your bed, chair and floor more comfortable.
